Your backside contains the largest muscle group in your body, the glutes. Powerful, the glutes comprise three muscles: the gluteus maximus, gluteus medius, and gluteus minimus.

Exercises For A Bigger Buttocks

If you're ready to add some mass to your buttocks, the following butt-boosting exercises will provide you with quite outstanding results. 

Start slowly with these exercises, and just do one set if you're a beginner. If the practices become easier, work up to two or three sets each.

1. Glute Bridge

The glute bridge isolates and strengthens the glute muscles, hamstrings, and core to improve your hip stability, and it's safe for gym novices.

You should lie on your back with your knees bent and feet on the floor to start the exercise. Place your arms, palms facing down on the ground.

Then, contract your abdominals and glutes, pushing from your feet to lift your hip off the floor. Your body should form a straight line from your knees to shoulders. Pause at the top for 5 seconds and slowly return to your neutral position.

2. Jumping Squats

Jumping squats are a powerful exercise that will boost your heart rate and strengthen your glutes and entire leg.

If you have any stability issues with your legs, consult a physical therapist before squatting.

The exercise starts with standing in a squat position with your feet shoulder-width apart. You then lower your body until your thighs are parallel to your knees.

Here is where it gets more complicated. From the lower squatting position, jump up and off the ground, pushing your feet at least a couple of inches from the surfaces. Upon landing, squat back down and repeat. 

3. Walking Lunges with Weights

Walking lunges are a great exercise to build and tone your glute muscles while simultaneously growing your quadriceps.

Start the exercise by holding a dumbbell in each with your arms at your sides. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and take one step with your right foot.

As your right foot touches the ground, bend your knee so it's parallel to the floor. Simultaneously bend the left knee so it looks as if you're about to propose. Repeat the lunge position by now leading with the right leg.

4 Single-leg Deadlifts

The single-leg deadlift is a more advanced movement that's used to target the glutes and hamstrings. It's quite a challenge for your balance and core stability.

Begin the exercise by holding a dumbbell in each hand, placing your hands in front of your thighs as if you're ready to bend down and touch your toes.

The movement requires that you use your hip as a hinge. While standing on one leg, hinge forward and allow the weights to drop in front of you as if you want to touch your toes with them. As your torso lowers to the ground, the leg you're not standing on should go straight back.

Hinge back to your standing position on both feet, and repeat the process.
